About me
A luthier who combines classical violin making with contemporary materials.

In 2010, I started at the Dutch Violin Making School (Nederlandse Vioolbouwschool) in Makkum. As I attended only a summer week and occasionally a weekend, it took until 2014 before the sounds of my first violin could be heard. I still play this violin with great pleasure. Work on the second violin proceeded at the same pace, though my focus shifted toward independency. Tools were acquired, and a great deal of time was spent making molds and templates, as well as reading books and articles on violin making. Subsequently, I set out to build a violin and a viola simultaneously. The COVID years provided the opportunity to put this independence into practice immediately. Both instruments were completed in 2022. The violin turned out to have a pronounced wolf-tone. This was something that I was unwilling to accept. After endless experimentation and research, a solution emerged in 2026 that significantly reduced the wolf tone. The knowledge gained has been incorporated into the violins built since then, allowing me to say that the instruments leaving my workshop sound good.
All the wood for my violins comes from Europe and was purchased from the Gleissner company in Germany.
